Celebrate Living Landmarks of Chicago
August 31, 2021
You’re invited to celebrate Chicago with Emmy-winning author Theresa L. Goodrich in the iconic LondonHouse, a real live “Living Landmark.”
You’ll be entertained with music from the 1920s, performed by Jim Goodrich, and the story of this historic building that sits where the city began. Theresa will regale you with a peek into Chicago’s past, including the extraordinary effort involved in building the bridge that connected Michigan Avenue with Pine Street to the north, and the crazy reason there’s an odd cut-out on the east side of LondonHouse.
Here’s what readers have to say about Living Landmarks of Chicago:
“This book is a masterpiece of history and a travelogue that will inspire you to visit the landmarks you have not seen, and to go back to those that you have.”
“I have read many histories of this, my favorite US city, and I could not put Theresa L. Goodrich’s book down. It should be available in every living landmark, at every city hotel… It should be required reading for city administrators, high school history classes, and tourism bureaus. Brilliant book.”
“Rather than being a dull ‘and then, and then, and then’ kind of history book, this one reads like an adventure tale.”
“A meticulous researcher and a gifted storyteller, she combines her talents to weave important historical facts with little-known morsels that bring these legends to life.”
“Living Landmarks is part love letter, part history lesson, 100% delightful read.”
If you love Chicago, you’ll love this celebration.
And it’s free! The book will be available for purchase at the event.
